Remembrance: Creative Amnesia is a Sin >> Awakenings (Multi Part Series....Gonna be a Long One...Textualizing in process)

As the World Turns, we, inadvertently, become lost in the shuffle. This is not, necessarily, a physical loss. It's the forgetfulness, of Self, in the form of lack of focus/vision or ignoring those 'aha' moments that, seem to, dissipate from consciousness. It's as if our true essence falls into a deep slumber for days, months or years 0_0 (gasp).

Part 1: Childhood (Dreams in the Stage of Enlightenment)

In childhood, who we are rings loud and clear - the inner voice, in the land of 'fairy tales' and 'imaginary' friends. This is the time of Awakening - awakening to our authentic self. It's the purest stage. The time of being. We are not trying to be our selves. Our talents are not disguised. They are in plain sight.

Have you experienced moments of remembrance (those magnificent moments from childhood you thought were erased from your memory bank)?
  • Did you love numbers?
  • Were you the one capturing insects and trying to classify them according to phylum
  • Was hair styling and designing clothing for your baby dolls a passion?
  • You dissected the VCR or any gadget you could get a hold of to see how it worked?
  • Could you draw anything from memory (photographic memory)?
  • Which piece of furniture did you love to flip off of (inner gymnast)?
  • Wait a minute. The Graffiti Artist (wall scribbler...yet it looked like the Sistine Chapel)?
  • The motivational speaker (all of your friends came to you for a 'pick me up'...you have a way with words)?

Lately, I have been having some flashbacks. The first one is in preschool. Before nap time was play time. There were so many things to do: coloring books, legos, wooden blocks, drawing on the chalk board and much more (pre personal video gaming era). We would rotate from one activity to another. Yet, all I wanted to do was finger paint. Yep, finger paint! That's an 'aha' moment that was tucked away into my subconscious for years. Anything in the Arts seemed to capture my interest.

The second flashback is trying to mimic the scratching noise I would here from Rap Groups/Artist: UTFO, Boogie Down Productions, Beastie Boys etc...with a cardboard box and a pen or pencil and rubbing it back and forth against the box while the record button was activated on my boombox. I would do this for hours. Nope, didn't mess with the parents turntable - that was my dad's baby ( I could play records, but not 'scratch' them); he was a deejay.

To be continued...
